Amaru is an amalgamation of words loosely translating to a "a beautiful place to love".


We aim to provide an experience that is one of excitement, intrigue and intimacy. Located in the inner-city suburb of Armadale with a maximum seating of 34 guests, the open concept dining room offers a beautiful connection between the diner and the creations of the kitchen.

We offer a tasting menu inspired by exquisite Australian produce, prepared and inspired by culinary techniques from around the globe in the hope to evoke the senses and challenge the imagination along the way.


The menu is revealed and delivered by the entire team of chefs, waiters and sommeliers who carefully guide our guests through each serving, which may be accompanied by a variety of beverage options from our extensive cellar or house-made infusions and ferments.

Clinton's culinary journey had humble beginnings in a small town in Queensland. Since then, his passion for incredible food has taken him through the kitchens of some of the world's most renowned restaurants, gaining experience from a wide variety of influential chefs.

In 2016, Clinton took the leap and opened his first venue, Amaru. Since then, he

has been continuing to build and develop the restaurant into one of the most exciting venues in Melbourne, constantly striving to deliver a memorable and unique experience.

Amaru has been fortunate enough to receive a variety of awards and accolades. In just the second year of opening, the restaurant was awarded two chefs hats by The Age Good Food Guide and in 2023, it received a third hat - a title held by just three restaurants in Melbourne.


Amaru is also continually listed amongst some of the country's best restaurants by national food and beverage critics and experts.
